I finally did it! This is my version of those Red Lobster biscuits that we all love. No Bisquick mix here!........all homemade. The recipe develops a light, fluffy, buttery, cheesy (shall I go on? LOL) biscuit that make you want more and more. They are the best right out of the oven YUM!Garlic Cheese Biscuits
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tbsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp sugar
1 tsp garlic powder
1 stick unsalted butter (cold and cubed)
1 1/4 cup cheddar cheese (shredded)
1 cup buttermilk (cold)
4 tbsp butter (melted)
1 tsp italian seasoning
Preheat oven to 350 degrees and line cookie sheet pan with parchment paper.
Add flour, sugar, salt, 1/2 tsp garlic powder, baking powder and baking soda to mixing bowl to your electric mixer. Add butter with paddle attachment mix dry ingredients until butter reaches the size of peas. Now add cheese and mix again. With mixer on low add buttermilk and mix just until batter comes together DO NOT OVERMIX!!!
Scoop batter onto cookie sheet using a 1/4-1/3 measuring cup (depending on the size you prefer)
Bake for 12-15 minutes DO NOT OVER BAKE! They should appear pale on top. Remove from oven and mix melted butter, 1/2 tsp garlic powder and italian seasoning in a bowl and brush each biscuit and place under broiler for 30 seconds until golden brown. Watch closely don't burn them. My trick is that I don't close oven door all the way. Enjoy!

I love these biscuits...they look great and nothing beats homemade!
